Proximity Marketing with the Bluegiga Access
Server Bluetooth technology, today, is a very basic feature in almost every
new mobile phone, and can be also utilised for local information marketing or
'Proximity Marketing' where the user gets valuable information to their mobile
phone, typically free of charge.
Bluegiga Access Server is designed to
meet the demands of the most reliable, flexible and powerful Bluetooth local
information systems where up to 21 simultaneous mobile phone connections are
supported via single Access Server.
Bluegiga Access Server acts as
network router AND local information storage.
The Access Server
automatically identifies mobile phones entering its radio coverage (10-100
meters) and interacts with the phone over the Bluetooth link. The only thing
the user needs to do is to accept the connection by pressing the 'Yes' button
at mobile phone.
The Access Server can be completely standalone or
hooked to a network for more real-time information and management. It can also
offer 'Pull' as well as 'Push' marketing.
The Proximity Marketing
feature is implemented using the Access Server's built-in Obex-Sender
application. Obex is the Bluetooth profile used to transfer files to other
devices.
The Obex-Sender application, system development and
installation requires from the company an understanding of radio technologies,
wireless and wired networks and capabilities to interface with other systems.
Some development resources may be needed, depending on the system complexity.
Bluegiga's role in Proximity Marketing systems is to be a platform supplier.
Further information is available from this site, including user guides
for the Access Server and Obex Sender application and FAQ pages.

or it's ability to meet your requirements.
Bluegiga Solution Manager The Bluegiga
Solution Manager (BSM) allows remote access and updating of the Obex-Sender and
other applications remotely.
The need to make a local wired connection
to the Access Server is removed, as the BSM can operate through standard wired
networks (Internet) or public cell phone networks.
